Acorn, ARM and RISC OS Page
Note: These pages have no longer been modified since 2003, except for typo corrections, URL updates, and other minor changes.
If you don't know what an Acorn is, you may read
Stanislas Renan's introduction
(in French), his
presentation of the ARM
(in French),
an article on the ARM
(by Paul DeMone),
another article on the ARM
(published by
Electronics Weekly),
and my page on
RISC OS.
My Risc PC configuration...
Here are my contributions for RISC OS. You can
also see a table summarizing the main ones.
-
StrongHelp
manual (13 KB) for the modules.
Updated on July 18, 1996.
-
Some
small programs (27 KB)
with their ARM source, and a
help file in English
and in German.
Updated on May 25, 2003.
-
TopIconBar
(application/module, 12 KB)
with its ARM source.
Allows to bring the icon bar to the foreground
with the mouse. Note: some versions of the window manager
have a similar feature built-in; do not use this module with them.
Help file in English, French and German.
Updated on May 8, 1999.
-
AutoFocus 2.01
(application/module, 23 KB)
with its ARM source.
No need to click on windows any more to get the
focus! This module has a special support for panes, dialogue boxes (with
writable icons) and block selection. Read the help file before trying it!
Help file in English, French and German. AutoFocus needs
Andrew Clover / Andrew Booker's
WimpSWIVe
module.
If you have AutoFocus 1.18 or earlier, please
upgrade! There is an important pointer corruption in these
versions and data at the low addresses of your machine may get
corrupted.
Updated on February 25, 2003.
-
DMPatch
(9 KB).
Patch for RISC OS 3.7
that allows you to choose the frame rate from the Display
Manager. Help file in English, French and German. Note: the
RISC OS 4 Display Manager
has a frame rate menu, thus this patch is useless under
RISC OS 4.
Updated on May 8, 1999.
-
WatchTV 1.7
(application, 20 KB)
with its ARM source.
A small application allowing to watch
TV (or, more generally, video images)
full screen for the owners of an Eagle M2 card
(and a TV tuner). Miller's algorithm
(Siggraph 84) is used to improve the image quality.
Help file in English, French and German.
Updated on August 11, 2001.
-
TitleMenu 3.04
(application/module, 23 KB)
with its ARM source.
This utility allows you to bring up a menu
consisting of a directory and its ancestors by clicking on the title bar
of a window with the Menu button, in order to open such
a directory. The leaf directory is either given by the window title
(filer window or an editor window) or the application
directory; in the latter case, the !Help file is added
to the menu if there is one, to get help on the application.
Help file in English and
in French.
Updated on May 25, 2003.
-
ShiftResize 3.00
(application/module, 10 KB)
with its ARM source.
If you click on the toggle size icon
while the shift key is pressed, the icon bar will not be obscured. A bit
of the CMOS memory allows to invert this behaviour. This patch allows to
change this bit and extends this feature to any kind of resize.
Help file in English and French.
Updated on May 25, 2003.
-
Nice 2.01
(module, 9 KB)
with its ARM source.
Nice is a small utility that
provides a very simple priority system on Wimp tasks, a bit like under
Unix. I wrote it because the RC5DES client was slowing down
my machine, and Nice solves this problem quite well.
Help file in English only.
Updated on May 25, 2003.
You may want to read an article on Nice,
in French I wrote on April 15, 1999 for
ARMada News number 17.
-
NewsFilter 2.02
(application/module, 7 KB)
with its ARM source.
This module allows to filter news and/or mail
raw files when you click with Select on Pluto's
Debatch button. An example written in Perl is supplied:
it fixes the sig separator of articles
posted with Outlook Express and provides other filters.
Updated on May 17, 2003.
-
Local Display 2.00
(module, 7 KB)
with its ARM source.
This module allows you to set the
filer display options locally. Warning!
This module has been written for Filer 1.97
(RISC OS 4.02) and may cause
severe damage if you use it with an incompatible version of
the filer.

ViNCe 1.28
(application, 296 KB) with its source.
Port of the
VNC client from
AT&T by
Henrik
Bjerregaard Pedersen, now maintained by me. It is distributed under
the GNU General Public License. For the changes, see
the ChangeLog file.
Updated on February 23, 2005.
As of version 1.19, ViNCe uses the
APCS-32 (and
is 32-bit compatible); module SharedCLibrary 5.34
(or later) is therefore necessary.
In case of problem, you can also download
older versions.
